In Transit: Cincinnati, OH

Well, here I sit in Cincinnati. It's another hour until my flight leaves (8:45) for Chattanooga, and I've already been here about an hour and a half. It could be worse. I actually changed my flight plans to avoid flying through Atlanta; even as early at 2:30, Delta's system listed my eventual flight from ATL to Chattanooga as "delayed". What that means is that they will be canceling the flight: that flight is the most delayed or canceled flight in the entire country, if I recall correctly.

My four days in Pennsylvania weren't too bad. The weather was hot but not oppressively so and, ultimately, there wasn't actually that much work to do. The highlights of the trip would have to be:
  • Having dinner at The Iron Bridge. Prime rib in a spicy bleu cheese sauce with mushrooms. Yum! I tried my best, but could not quite finish the whole thing.
  • Having a uniquely Pittsburgh-y sandwich for lunch today at the Primanti Brothers restaurant in the Strip District in Pittsburgh. They put cole slaw and french fries on the sandwich itself. It's definitely interesting. And heavy. I haven't been hungry again until not too long ago.
  • Visiting McConnell's Mill State Park and taking lots of pictures of the Slippery Rock Creek, the historical mill and the old covered bridge. I'll post pictures soon.
The aforementioned creek is down in a steep-walled gorge. I certainly can't be accused of not getting any exercise this week. I can, however, be accused of not being at aikido class more than a couple of times in the past month and a half, and it's killin' me.

Crowd Response: "But Matt! Surely your schedule, so maddeningly busy over the past months, will slow down at some point!"

Hah. Hah!
  • September 14-17th: Destin, FL with Flynn and many other friends to relax at the beach for a few days. And that'll be nice.
  • September 18-19th: Atlanta, GA, at the United States Penitentiary. That's what I get for taking vacation, huh?
  • September 21-23rd: Kings Gate LARP
  • September...OK, as far as I know there's nothing going on for the rest of September. But watch close. I'll lay good odds that I'll be wingin' it back up to Pennsylvania before another month has passed.
It occurs to me that, yes, a couple of the items listed above are actually recreational activities. It's true. But there are some days where all I want to do is hide under the covers (company would be welcome, ladies...) and let the world take care of itself for a little while.

Oh yeah. This weekend. Catching up with my Calculus class. I haven't even visited the website as yet because I don't have my book with me. That, and I'm terrified.
