Baby Boy

Amelia had her baby boy this afternoon; both mother and son are doing fine.

Welcome to the world, little Oscar; you're in good hands.

Before I implode completely...

I must travel soon. "All work and no getting out of the office makes Matt something something..."

"Go crazy?"

"Don't mind if I do!"

But that's as may be. Detroit just re-signed Dominik Hasek to be their goalie.

The thing is, he used to be a phenomenal goalie. Used to be. But demonstrably, over the past couple of seasons of play, we see that a team can only get a
quarter to a half of a season out of him before he declares, in broken English, "My groin!* The pain is like the fires of a thousand things considered very hot
in my desolate homeland!"**

(* For those of you less up on Hasek, he's prone to groin injuries. Tendons, ligaments, that sort of thing.)

(** I also know that the Czech Republic isn't terribly desolate.)

But really, why did they do this? Re-sign Legace, dammit, and sign another solid goalie to run in tandem with him. You'd get better results, especially if
you put together a corps in front of them that can actually function in the playoffs, although I realize it's much easier to just blame the goalie.

You know, first Shanahan skips town to sign with the Rangers (good for Amelia, bad for me), and now this. Something's just not right.
